Salisbury, Md. — As part of its commitment to build strong communities, Perdue Farms’ associate volunteers joined Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County (HFHWC) in a unique and impactful Women Build initiative this week. Associates lent their time and talents to build high-quality sheds that will be placed at Habitat homes or sold to raise funds in support of Habitat’s mission in Perdue’s hometown of Salisbury.

This creative approach not only provides practical resources for new homeowners but also generates additional funding to help more families achieve safe, affordable housing.

“Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity reflects Perdue’s deep commitment to stewardship and strengthening the communities where we live and work,” said Bill See, senior manager of community relations for Perdue Farms. “By supporting this Women Build project, our associates are helping deliver hope to our neighbors—creating not just structures, but opportunities for stability, pride, and a better future.”

Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County celebrates Women Build in May, and it recruits women from all walks of life to help with a construction project. Habitat has served 97 families with affordable homeownership since 1987, and with a goal of serving 41 more homebuyers by 2029, support from companies like Perdue Farms is critical to helping meet that goal, according to Christina Williams, Habitat director of development.

“For many years, we have had teams of strong, dedicated Perdue women on our construction sites, pitching in to help build,” said Williams. “We are deeply grateful for Perdue’s sponsorship of this event, and the longstanding partnership we have.”

For many Perdue associates, the experience is both rewarding and inspiring.

“Being part of this project means more than just building a shed—it’s about building hope in our community,” said Emma Elling, a Perdue brand manager, who participated in the effort. “Knowing that our work will help a family create a home and possibly help another family through funds raised makes this incredibly meaningful. It’s something I’m proud to be part of with my fellow Perdue associates.”
