MORTON, Minn.— John Weber stood before Minnesota beef producers in December to explain why he, a young person from St. Paul, wants to represent and promote their industry.
Weber, 17, is the senior winner of the 2010-2011 Minnesota Beef Spokesperson Team. He lives in the metro area but spends time on a farm run by his paternal grandparents and aunt and uncle just outside of Sanborn. He raises beef steers as a 4-H project, he's a state 4-H ambassador and participates in livestock judging.
Speaking at the Minnesota State Cattlemen's Association and Minnesota CattleWomen conference in Morton, Weber said he's seen thedisconnect between farmers and non-farmers, and wants to help bridge the gap to prevent misinformation about agriculture.
