Mar-Jac Poultry finalized a deal on Friday to purchase all of Marshall Durbin’s assets, including the Jasper plant. The plant in Jasper opened for the first time Monday as a Mar-Jac Poultry AL processing plant.
“We are excited, not just for us, but for the employees and Jasper too,” Mulham Shbeib, Mar-Jac’s chief financial officer, said Tuesday.
Shbeib said Marshall Durbin employees at the plant were given the option to apply to Mar-Jac prior to the transition and almost all were hired by the company to continue working at the plant.
