At a growing number of Walmart stores nationwide, meat sold under the Great Value name was produced at Lopez Foods in Oklahoma City.
The meat-processing company has expanded its presence with Walmart, supplying more stores and adding new products. Through its supplier diversity program, Walmart emphasizes sourcing items from minority and woman-owned businesses.
“It's good for both parties,” said Phillip Keene, a Walmart spokesman. “We are able to offer products at a local level and those businesses are able to grow with us.”
