URBANDALE – Today, the Jeff and Deborah Hansen Iowa Select Farms Foundation announced it will be making a gift of 45,000 lbs. of fresh boneless pork loin and 15,000 lbs. of cured ham to the Food Bank of Iowa in the name of Governor-elect Terry Branstad.

This is a much needed gift for the Food Bank of Iowa to distribute to needy Iowans during this holiday season. The products have a value of approximately $90,000 and began arriving at the Food Bank of Iowa today.

Gov.-elect Branstad has stated his intention to revolve the inaugural around charitable functions, specifically through the sale of tickets to benefit the Branstad/Reynolds Inaugural Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at http://www.GovernorBranstad.com.

“This is an incredible display of generosity, and I want to thank Jeff and Deborah for assisting my efforts on behalf of charitable causes,” said Branstad. “This outpouring of kindness during the holidays will ensure needy families throughout the state will not go hungry this season.”

Hansen says he is pleased to honor the governor’s charitable efforts with the donation.

“People are hurting during this difficult economic time, and I think the governor and lieutenant-governor-elect’s idea to use the inaugural as a way to help those less fortunate is a terrific idea, and Deborah and I are proud to play a part in their efforts,” said Jeff Hansen. “I hope other Iowans will join us in using the inaugural celebration as a way to benefit others.”
