At its Tuesday meeting, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is set to approve a letter of support for the county's only federally certified meat processing facility, which is recovering from two recent suspensions.
"This will take the burden off of Redwood Meat Company and the USDA," 1st District Supervisor and board chairman Rex Bohn said.
The Eureka-based meat processing and packing facility, Redwood Meat Company, has been on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service's radar for the last several months, having its federal certification suspended twice for inhumane handling and slaughtering of livestock.
