KIRKLAND, WA – The world’s largest BBQ sanctioning body, the Kansas City
Barbeque Society, and its Team of the Year, Pellet Envy, have just signed a 2010
promotional deal with EZ Grill, a recyclable, ready-to-use disposable grill.
KCBS sanctions more than 300 BBQ contests coast-to-coast that attract about 10
million consumers, 50,000 volunteers and well over 12,000 official judges and
members in America. The nonprofit society, which began in 1985, is known as
“America’s BBQ Experts” and each year crowns a Team of the Year that performs
the best at its contests. For 2009, that team was Pellet Envy, which is led by
pit master Rod Gray.
The non-profit organization has named EZ Grill as its Official Disposable Grill,
and Gray, who once served on the KCBS board, will represent EZ Grill as its 2010
spokesperson.
“Being endorsed by the most reputable BBQ association in America and the number
one team in the industry is a remarkable moment for all of us at EZ Grill,”
commented Phillip Swan, CEO of EZ Grill. “From the casual tailgater to the most
serious BBQ enthusiasts, our product has become an integrated part of the
outdoor grilling environment.”
“This is a fabulous and fun product,” said Carolyn Wells, founder and executive
director of KCBS. “While our competitions are all about low and slow cooking,
there’s nothing quite like the ability of grilling up a meal in a fast and
convenient manner like the EZ Grill allows you to do.”
As the official ambassador of EZ Grill, Pellet Envy’s Gray will be demonstrating
the product’s versatility and ease-of-use at various events, meetings and
classes throughout the year. As one of the top BBQ teams in the country, Pellet
Envy has competed in more than 250 events in the past nine years and won more
than 60 championships. In addition to becoming the KCBS Team of the Year, Pellet
Envy was the top-ranked team in brisket and the only team to finish in the top
10 in all four KCBS categories (chicken, pork ribs, pork and brisket).
“We’re very excited to be part of the EZ Grill family. It’s fun to demonstrate
and promote a product that folks fall in love with instantly,” Gray commented.
“It’s simple, easy to light, inexpensive, recyclable and easy on the
environment. A true win/win for the grilling industry.”
EZ Grill also sponsored the BBQ industry’s largest Kids’ Que Jr. Championship on
March 20th, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The event was open to children ages 6-12,
each of which received an EZ Grill with which to compete. The event culminated
in the first Kids’ Que Jr. World Championship award ceremony.
The EZ Grill, available in regular size (1.81 lbs) and party size (3.31 lbs) for
$4.99 and $9.99 ($9.88 at Wal-Mart), respectively, lights with just one match
and consistently cooks for up to 1 hours after ignition to ensure superior
grilling quality and flavor.
The EZ Grill can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Safeway and other retailers
nationwide and at www.ezgrill.com.
