PERCEPTIONS that overseas consumers are wary about the taste of our sheep and lamb have been proved wrong.
The Sheep CRC spent 12 months conducting taste tests on Australian lamb, hogget and young mutton, with positive results from the industry’s two most important export destinations.
The results, which surprised even the experts conducting the trials, were revealed at Lambex in Albury this month — China and the US like Australian lamb and sheep as much as we do.
Team leader Professor Dave Pethick, from Murdoch University, said this surely meant there was more potential for Australian products in those market.
