WOOSTER, Ohio – The Certified Angus Beef ® brand has partnered with the James Beard Foundation to launch its first pop-up store and restaurant. The JBF LTD, located in New York City’s Chelsea Market at 75 Ninth Ave., will open Tuesday, April 12 and will feature the branded beef in a butcher shop, as well as on lunch menus and dinners served by the world’s finest chefs.
Visitors to the space, located in the city’s historic meatpacking district, will also be greeted by family ranchers who raise premium beef, and the butchers and chefs who prepare and serve it in the finest restaurants and steakhouses.
“Sharing our story with consumers in this unique venue adds value to the brand for our partners nationwide,” says John Stika, president of Certified Angus Beef LLC. “We’re excited to align the brand with the foremost culinary organization and to share our premium beef story – from gate to plate – with culinary influencers and food connoisseurs.”
Among the activities at the store, “Cowboys and Cleavers” educational programs on April 15 and 16 will explain how the world’s best steaks start at the farm and end at the table. Texas ranchers Steve and Ginger Olson will describe their commitment to raising the best Angus beef, while renowned butcher Marc Sarrazin of New York’s DeBragga & Spitler and Certified Angus Beef ® brand Chef Scott Popovic share tips from the butcher block. Plus, every Friday at JBF LTD will be designated “Cowboy Fridays,” when store-goers can visit with an Angus rancher and his/her family to learn more about the passion behind raising premium Angus cattle.
At the brand’s butcher shop inside the store, beef connoisseurs can purchase Certified Angus Beef ® steaks with every 21st customer receiving a free steak. The butcher’s daily features will be Prime tenderloin Tuesdays and Thursdays, dry-aged T-bone Wednesdays, Natural bone-in cowboy steak Fridays and Prime strip steaks on the weekends.
JBF LTD will offer an ever-evolving calendar of events, updated continually at jamesbeard.org/popup, including a series of prix-fixe dinners. Reservations and payment are required in advance. Open Tuesday through Sunday for five weeks, the pop-up store will operate as an interactive café, retail shop and lounge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
