More than 60 teams will compete in this year’s menudo contest, one of the largest in the U.S. Rumba will have a booth with display products, as well as a prize wheel that consumers can spin to instantly win Rumba gear and gift cards to purchase Rumba products. There will also be prize drawings every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $50.00 gift cards, as well as Rumba coupons for all who visit the booth.
“As a producer of the leading brand of high-quality, specialty meat cuts created for multicultural consumers in the U.S., we are delighted to be a first-time sponsor of this year’s menudo cook-off,” said David Bisek, who leads Rumba’s marketing efforts on behalf of Cargill, the brand’s owner. “The competition will be intense and the teams’ recipes will produce many delicious versions of menudo for the judges to sample as part of the Cinco de Mayo celebration,” continued Bisek.
Proceeds from the state menudo cook-off are used for scholarships given to local high school students by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) chapter 654. Viva! Cinco de Mayo & State Menudo Cook-Off events also include a carnival, arts and crafts, food, Baile Folklorico, little and big Miss Cinco de Mayo pageants, jalapeno eating contest and live musical entertainment.
