Need materials to use in employee training? Need to get a quick refresher? How are Retailers Using Beef Training Camp?
- Retailers use Beef Training Camp as a training tool.
- Retailers have used Beef Training Camp, often with live training sessions based on one or more modules, to get fun facts for a Jeopardy game as a break out time during a long training session. Instead of a lecture, the game gives participants energy and something to talk about as they are learning.
- Many times, retailers will pair a Beef Training Camp session with a cutting demonstration or other training.
- Retailers have also printed out Beef Training Camp sections and given it to employees to read as part of their training or as a refresher.
- Information from Beef Training Camp can also be used in weekly e-newsletters sent to stores. For example, when running a special on ribeyes, pull a sentence or two of tips about the ribeye to share with store level associates, encouraging them to share it with customers.
Beef Training Camp Success Stories
- FoodMaxx, a California-based chain with 45 stores located across the state, conducted three Beef Training Camp sessions for their meat managers and meat associates in each of their three territories. They were able to cover 8 modules in a 4-hour session. To measure success, each session started with a quiz to see what the participants already knew and ended with a beef game to review what attendees had learned. Meat managers found the training to be helpful and thought it could help increase beef sales in their departments. View full article.
- SUPERVALU®, a national retail network of more than 2,500 stores, also discovered the value of Beef Training Camp by hosting a training session for meat associates in its Supply Chain Services Midwest region. This group used Beef Training Camp as a tool to discuss current trends and continue to educate Wisconsin-area meat personnel on cooking and safe-handling practices. The day-long training session also included cooking and cutting demonstrations. View full article.
- Tops Friendly Markets® hosted a Beef Training Camp session to train employees on customer service, nutrition labeling and their launch of a new cut from the Chuck Roll, the Denver Cut.
