American Lamb Is For Lovers In Boston

DENVER — The American Lamb Board is heating up Boston in celebration of Lamb
Lovers Month in February with ewe-nique events throughout the city. Lamb lovers
can taste at local grocery stores, savor luscious lamb dishes at restaurants,
celebrate their love of lamb at the American Lamb Takedown on February 28 and
usher in Boston Restaurant Week at the American Lamb Jam on March 7.

“New England is home to some of the country’s most talented chefs and we’re
delighted to have so many esteemed culinary stars share their love of lamb and
showcase its rich flavor through creative and inspiring tastes this winter,”
says Megan Wortman, Executive Director, American Lamb Board.

American Lamb Takedown February 28, 2010

20 amateur cooks will converge at The Middle East in a fight to the finish
featuring flavorful American Lamb. Hosted by Matt Timms, creator of the original
Chili Takedown and sponsored by the American Lamb Board, fans of lamb will
receive free lamb loving gear as they wolf down wicked recipes and vote on the
finest lamb offering.

American Lamb Jam March 7, 2010

In partnership with BostonChefs.com, dozens of Boston’s top restaurants and
chefs will join together at The Charles Hotel to celebrate American Lamb and
kick off Boston Restaurant Week by creating succulent and savory selections
paired with local Boston beer for over 400 lamb loving attendees. Additionally,
each chef will compete on behalf of their favorite charity to win a $1000
donation to that organization.

To learn about lamb, consumers can visit Roche Brothers, Demoulas and Big Y or
take part in special retail events throughout the city, including:

  • Central Bottle On February 23, from 5 p.m. 8 p.m., as part of a
    recurring Guest Chef Series, Chef Jorge Lopes from the Blue Room will serve
    three American Lamb dishes with wine and beer pairings from Central Bottle.
  • Cardullos Gourmet Shoppe On February 26, from 5 p.m. 7 p.m., Chef Phil
    Goodwin will serve an American Lamb dish paired with a selection of wines as
    part of their Friday Evening Wine Tasting series.
  • Gordon Fine Wine’s and Culinary Center On March 3, from 6:30 p.m. 8:30
    p.m., during Gordon’s Wines for Wedding seminar for soon to be married
    couples, Chef Colin Crossland from Gourmet Caterers will serve samples of
    American Lamb dishes and conduct a lamb cooking demo.
