April showers could very well bring May flowers.
But for the greenhouse industry in Nova Scotia, a brutal winter brings collapsed roofs and a severely delayed start to the season.
According to Yvonne Thyssen-Post, a representative of Greenhouse Nova Scotia, the harsh winter has been devastating for many greenhouses across the province.
“There was so much snow in such a short period of time that the growers had no place for it to go,” Thyssen-Post said by phone Friday. “(Greenhouse) structures can’t handle that kind of snow.”
