CANBY, Ore. – Terra Nova Nurseries announced two new introductions now available to garden centers, Heuchera ‘Galaxy’ and Echinacea ‘Ferris Wheel’. Both of these varieties are the latest additions to two of Terra Nova Nurseries’ plant series, Heuchera Little Cuties™ and Echinacea Carnival™. The large, leathery leaves of Heuchera ‘Galaxy’ and the unique wagon-wheel petal patterns of Echinacea ‘Ferris Wheel’ make these varieties perfect additions for garden centers this spring.
Heuchera ‘Galaxy’ has thick, tough foliage that is heavily variegated with spots of color on a dark background. The leaves emerge a startling bright-red, and turn darker as they age; the variegation on the other hand grows lighter in color and more noticeable as the season progresses. 'Galaxy' loves heat and humidity, but also performs well in cool climates. The average size includes 12” Width / 9” Height / 14” Flower Height.
Echinacea ‘Ferris Wheel’ has strong, wagon-wheel petal patterns. In comparison to its cousin, Echinacea ‘Quills & Thrills’, the petals are just a shade shorter. Emerging pale cream, the flowers progress to a bright lemon color. 'Ferris Wheel' features a stout, multi-crowned habit, and a very high flower count. This new Echinacea is outstanding in the garden or mixed container. The average size includes 16” Width / 20” Height / 24” Flower Height and performs well in zones 4 – 10.
Terra Nova Nurseries has created “Plant Profile” pages specific to these introductions so retailers interested ordering Heuchera ‘Galaxy’ and Echinacea ‘Ferris Wheel’ from their growers can learn about plant characteristics as well as share this information with consumers. The plant profiles can be viewed and downloaded for printing at: www.terranovanurseries.com.
