Every month, Flower Council Holland puts a houseplant under the spotlight. In June, it’s the turn of the succulent.
Throughout the month, consumers will be given information on succulents (sometimes called fat plants) through www.mooiwatplantendoen.nl and various press releases and photographs.
The succulent owes its official name to the Greek word succus, which means water. It's a very appropriate name because it's a moist plant, specialised in retaining water. That water can be vital to its survival because it originally comes from areas plagued by drought. It is one of the few plants that can defy such arid conditions almost problem-free.
