Royal Flora Holland Explains the Importance of Certification
August 14, 2025 | 1 min to read
As consumers and stakeholders prioritize the responsible cultivation of flowers and plants, Royal FloraHolland is urging growers to be transparent about their production methods through certification grounded in the FSI Basket of Standards. By March 2025, certification will become mandatory, with initiatives like a small-scale grower scheme in place. Many members are either certified or working towards it, anticipating timely completion of their certification processes.
Consumers, the media, opinion makers, influencers and governments are attaching increasing importance to the responsible cultivation of flowers and plants. That is why Royal FloraHolland asks all growers to be transparent about their production processes. We do this through certification based on the three pillars of the FSI Basket of Standards: Environment, GAP and Social.
Sustainability was on the agenda during the last three member sessions. In March 2025, it was decided to make certification mandatory, and this decision has recently been further elaborated with, for example, the small-scale grower scheme and a phasing-out scheme. A large number of members are already certified or are in the process of becoming certified. Many members who are working on it expect to have their certification ready on time.
