Moscow, Russia – Nevado Roses, the producer of premium cut roses, today announced that the company was awarded the Gold Medal for three of its exclusive roses, being one of them its new rose variety “Gigi” at the International Flower Exhibition in Moscow – Flowers 2010.

“The Gigi rose is a smoky dark pink with a luxurious shape”, says John Nevado, the proud grower of this new variety. “We launched it this year to honor my wife, whose nick-name is Gigi”, fills in his father, Mr Roberto Nevado.

The rose is a flower for all occasions, a true-blood pink with a hint of purple to adorn any home or festive setting. It goes well with present trends in interior decoration, looking for true, solid colours.

Additionally the rose has a full, vibrant and very big foliage giving it the proper framing.

Nevado Roses grows the Gigi on an worldwide exlusive basis and the rose is scheduled to be released to other growers in the foreseeable future.

An annual flower exhibition for professionals held in Moscow, Russia. This years edition brought together participants from as far as Khabarovsk in the east to St Petersburg in the west. It was the shows most successful edition to date.

The roses are produced under certified environmentally friendly standards, and Nevado Roses has been granted the Rainforest Alliance, the Fair Trade, and the Flower Label program seals of approval. Besides there is an area of Organic USDA and European Ecological certified roses for edible purposes. The fact that the roses are environmentally friendly means they are produced without or with extreme caution when it comes to chemical pesticides or fertilizers, but rather using all-natural alternatives. These alternatives include spraying the roses with garlic-water or chamomile emulsions. The Company also uses predatory insects that kill off the bad insects, and uses plants such as tobacco to ward off certain flies. “We use nature to combat pests”, says John Nevado the Company president.
