For both growers and buyers, novelties are a very important means to gain and maintain a distinctive position in the international market. That is why FloraHolland pays so much attention to them. Novelties are a major component at the Trade Fair being held from November 6-8 in Aalsmeer.
There will be dozens of standholders with their new products and concepts, especially now that the breeders have been added. FloraHolland will also be presenting a number of striking novelties at the trade fair which have just been put on the market or will be marketed in the near future. One of them is the new Kalanchoë 'Piton' 12cm from the SV.CO nursery, in partnership with the breeder Fides. "We focus strongly on the development of new products, together with the breeders. Customers are constantly searching for new, distinctive products. The Trade Fair is exactly the right place to display them. At the Trade Fair we shall introduce our new Kalanchoë 'Piton'. Not only will we be putting our novelty in the spotlight at the fair, it will also be included on the FloraHolland novelties stand. That is a perfect complement. At the FloraHolland novelties stand, customers can view a presentation of the latest novelties. FloraHolland staff are on hand to provide information about the various items on display. The reactions that they receive from the customers are sent to the growers as feedback. This is a valuable collaboration," says Jelle Strijbis, co-owner of SV.CO.
Nominations for the Glass Tulip
During the fair, visitors can also vote on the products nominated for the 'Glass Tulip 2014'. These votes will be considered when choosing the finalists for the Glass Tulip. We announce the finalists at the end of the fair. Every year, the flower auction FloraHolland presents the FloraHolland Award the 'Glass Tulip' to growers and breeders in four categories. The Glass Tulip is the most prestigious award for the best market introduction of the year in the floriculture sector. The winners are selected and nominated from the hundreds of new cultivars and concepts that are introduced each year on the auction. In Aalsmeer the nominations for the Glass Tulip 2014 will be announced.
