Florist Amy Hittle has seen a big change in the way men — and they’re usually men — order flowers for Valentine’s Day.
Instead of leafing through a catalog or perusing arrangements in her shop, Anita’s Beautiful Flowers in Stafford County, they’re apt to show her a photo on their smartphone.
“They’ve looked at my website or found a picture when they were online,” said Hittle, who has been in the florist business since the mid-1980s.
American men, and some women, are expected to spend a total of $1.9 billion on flowers for this Valentine’s Day, according to the National Retail Federation.
