Joy to the world! The Pantone Color Institute has selected its 2018 color of the year and it’s especially “florist friendly.”
Last week the venerable design firm unveiled its new pick, “Ultra Violet” (Pantone 18-3838), to much applause from the floral industry professionals. According to Leatrice Eiseman, the Pantone Color Institute’s executive director, the “complex and contemplative” purple — symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality and artistic brilliance — reflects consumers’ desire to leave their unique mark on the world.
“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is that kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” said Eiseman, who has shared her expertise in the past at Society of American Florists events and in Floral Management magazine. “From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”
