Mother Nature brought tough growing conditions to trial gardens across North America this season. Extreme heat, drought conditions or too much moisture were just a few of the challenges. This wide range of conditions provides the best proving grounds for Danziger varieties.

“Our participation in global trials highlights how both our new and best-selling varieties perform in real-world conditions,” says Ori Danziger, deputy CEO. “We are proud of the way our selections stood out during a challenging season, showcasing premium performance for growers, retail-ready beauty and the must-have features home gardeners crave.”

Here are a few of the outstanding performers in North America this season.

CAPELLA™ Inked and CAPELLA™ Rose Ink

CAPELLA Petunias are top performers for growers, but the 2027 introductions are taking this series to a whole new level. Trial attendees loved the unique and detailed patterns of CAPELLA™ Inked (pictured at Mast Young Plants Trial Garden in Michigan) and CAPELLA™ Rose Ink. The beautiful veining, paired with the outstanding performance and naturally controlled habit CAPELLA is known for make these new petunias a must-have for any program.

NESIA™ Arctic Blue Nemesia

The beautiful blue color and delightful fragrance of this new nemesia made NESIA™ Arctic Blue a visitor top 10 favorite at MAST Young Plants Trials. Each variety in the NESIA collection is more heat tolerant than others on the market, which means the blooms just keep coming, as seen in this image from the Landscape Ontario Trial Garden.

AMAZONAS™ Petunias Collection

This award-winning petunia collection continued to turn heads at trials across North America. AMAZONAS™ Plum Cockatoo steals the show, while new introductions Midnight Finch, Pink Macaw (pictured, left) and Violet Parakeet were praised for their unique color combinations and performance in both containers and hanging baskets.

Harmony® Colorfall™ Pink Flamingo was a top performer at the Colorado State University flower trial gardens. This trailing New Guinea impatiens series is very uniform with glossy foliage. Trial managers loved the two-toned blooms and tropical flair of Pink Flamingo and praised its sun tolerance. This selection also received high marks at the Raker-Roberta’s Young Plant Trial G

SOL LUNA™ PRIME Hybrid Impatiens

Big blooms, bold color and unmatched uniformity are trademarks of Danziger’s SOL LUNA™ PRIME Hybrid Impatiens. Trial results showcased these qualities, as seen in this photo at the Plant Peddler Variety Day in Cresco, Iowa. Trial visitors also commented on SOL LUNA PRIME’s ability to thrive in sun or shade.

PAZZAZ NANO™ and MEGA PAZZAZ™ Portulaca

This season’s high temperatures were no match for Danziger Portulaca. PAZZAZ NANO™ and MEGA PAZZAZ™ are at their best in the heat and in low water conditions. PAZZAZ NANO Gold drew praise at the Colorado State University Trials for its abundance of blooms and ability to attract pollinators.

TRINITY™ Diascia

The TRINITY™ Diascia series had trial visitors taking notice. This dependable, interspecific series stands up to summer heat, holding its large flowers longer. Blooms covered the plants at the Fessler Nursery Annual Summer Trials in Oregon, showing TRINITY’s exceptional weather tolerance and bushy habit.

TIMELESS™ Bidens Pink Treat

This new TIMELESS™ Bidens selection was the most asked about new introduction at many trials. Pink Treat showed off its non-stop, wide range of colorful blooms. This next generation Bidens provides excellent branching with little to no PGRs.

DURABELLA® AMAZONAS™ Energy Danziger’s DURABELLA® Combos shined at the Raker-Roberta’s Young Plant Trial Gardens in Michigan. DURABELLA® AMAZONAS™ Energy, featuring AMAZONAS™ Plum Cockatoo Petunia, COLIBRI™ Spark Purple Calibrachoa and VANESSA™ COMPACT Bordeaux Verbena, received high marks. Every combination in the DURRABELLA program uses one liner per variety, helping reduce input costs, lowering water use, and creating a lighter root ball to support better shelf life and long-lasting quality. Each DURRABELLA recipe features two or three varieties that were trialed and tested to ensure they blend well and perform for the home gardener.
