In Europe, consumers are not all that well-acquainted with the cut version of the Cymbidium, a Product Board for Horticulture study suggests. Those that do know it, however, are quite enthusiastic about the ‘boat orchids’.
Practically without exception, both consumers and florists deem the Cymbidium attractive as a flower. Its unusual shape and outward appearance make it unique and endow the orchid with a particularly exotic look, they state.
Customers and flower shop owners do differ when it comes to the associations they have with the cut Cymbidium: polled consumers suggest it fits well within both a classic and a modern bouquet style, while florists emphasize its classical leanings. Consumers also prefer the white variety, while florists are more into the green ones.
