For Jeanie McKewan, growing flowers has been a lifelong passion. After decades of growing and learning, she still enjoys the colors, planting and cutting each year on Brightflower Farm outside of Stockton.
The farm sells weekly to markets in Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin, as well as some Whole Foods stores. McKewan says she probably doesn’t pay herself enough, but she’s more than content with her surroundings alongside her husband and seven part-time employees.
“It’s a labor of love,” McKewan said. “There’s really very little I don’t like about it.”
