The actions of the marketing team at the Sabra Taste Adventure hummus station Sunday night at Musikfest didn’t cause the kind of riot that requires the presence of armored vehicles and canisters of pepper spray to disperse.

But it’s fair to describe the situation as rising to the level of brief pandemonium. The station, which was only up for the first few days of the festival, was situated somewhere between Festplatz and Volksplatz off one of the more narrow stretches of festival walkway that pedestrians cram through to get to their gyros, polkas or beers.
There’s generally a lot of pushing and shoving in this area. Sometimes a stroller starts teetering and a new mother goes berserk.
This is all heightened when free food starts flowing.
