AUGUSTA — Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, is urging all Mainers to support their local dairy producers during Open Creamery Day, scheduled this year for Sunday, October 9.
Creameries all over the state — including State of Maine Cheese Company in Rockport, Imagine Dairy Farm in Warren, and Appleton Creamery and ME Water Buffalo Co. in Appleton — will open their doors to the public, offering residents a chance to visit with their local farmers, learn about the cheesemaking process, meet some animals and purchase locally produced cheese and other agricultural products.
“Farms, fisheries and food producers — including creameries like the ones in our region — are one of the bright spots of Maine’s economy, growing and attracting new and young entrepreneurs year after year,” said Sen. Miramant. “That’s as true here in Knox County as anywhere else. I urge all my friends and constituents to join me in supporting these great local businesses, and sampling some delicious Maine-made products at the same time.”
