Once again Jacobs and Brichford Farmstead Cheese has proven its tenacity in competition. In the Basque country of northern Spain, two of our little Indiana farmstead cheeses won places on the global cheese board. Gold Winner Everton Premium Reserve and Silver Winner Briana were selected from among 3000 worldwide entries, judged by a renowned panel of global cheese experts.
Everton Premium Reserve, an alpine style raw milk cheese, placed third highest among all USA cheeses, securing a Gold. In the Semi-Hard Cow’s Milk Cheese category, our Briana won a Silver. In 2015, Everton won a Bronze.
In its 29th year, The International Cheese Festival is the world’s largest cheese-only celebration of cheese’s heritage and diversity. The competition formed part of the inaugural International Cheese Festival during San Sebastián, Spain’s tenure as European Capital of Culture.
John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food, which organizes the World Cheese Awards, notes “we were certainly in the presence of greatness this morning, as nearly three decades’ worth of World Champion Cheeses took the stage in front of our audience of food professionals, cheese-makers, journalists, buyers and retailers.”
