The Kansas Senate expanded the volume of dairy industry fees Monday by adopting a
bill intended to raise enough money to continue an inspection program required
to ship Grade A milk to other states.
Officials of the Kansas Department of Agriculture requested adjustments
contained in Senate Bill 395, which would generate about $75,000 annually.
“The Department of Agriculture tells us they’re running out of money to continue
these inspections,” said Sen. Mark Taddiken, a Clifton Republican and chairman
of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
