The Metz Hart-Land Creamery of Rushford is the 2018 winner of the Minnesota Milk Producers Association’s Producer of the Year Award. The Metz family will receive the award during the association’s annual conference on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Jeff and Mariann Metz began dairy farming in 1983. Mariann said winning the award felt pretty good to the whole family. “It feels wonderful,” she said. “It was very unexpected. We’re very humbled and honored to be selected. Our family works very hard at what we do so it’s nice to be recognized.”
Producers around the state are eligible to fill out an application for the award. The Metz family applied a couple years back but didn’t win it at the time. Metz said they forgot about it until they made a trip to St. Cloud to give a presentation on their creamery during a conference.
