Move over, Cherry Garcia. Hannah Kearney soon will have her own ice cream flavor
to go with a Winter Olympic gold medal.
Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., a closely held ice cream maker based in Kearney’s
home state of Vermont, said it would bring out a new flavor to honor the
champion of the women’s freestyle moguls at the Winter Games in Vancouver.
The company, known for flavors such as Chubby Hubby, Chunky Monkey and Cherry
Garcia, said Kearney’s accomplishment would be recognized with her favorite
combination of coffee ice cream and chocolate cookies. The product should be
available soon after the Winter Olympics end on Feb. 28, two days after
Kearney’s 24th birthday, Ben & Jerry’s spokesman Sean Greenwood said in an
e-mail from the company’s base in South Burlington, Vermont.
