We Want Schwebels Video Contest Invites Fans To Create Their Own Jingle

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Schwebel Baking Company today announced that it wants fans to create their own video version of the company's famous "We Want Schwebel's!" radio and TV jingle for a chance to win cash prizes.
We Want Schwebel's Video Contest

Fans are asked to visit www.wewantschwebels.com and using their cell phone camera or any digital video device, create their video performance of the "We Want Schwebel's!" jingle. The Website contains rules, a how-to video, sheet music, piano accompaniment, a sample video and instructions for uploading contest entries.

Entries for the online contest will run from February 1 – March 31. A panel of judges will select ten (10) Top Finalists based on Originality & Creativity; Technical Quality; and Adherence to Rules.

The online voting for the contest will take place in April, when the finalists' videos will be posted and rated by the public. Friends and family can vote and share in the fun and excitement. All voters will be entered to win "One Free Year of Bread."

The jingle, written by popular songwriter, Jim Brickman, was first heard over 30 years ago and has been a happy memory for generations of families since then and a part of the cultural fabric of the region. In recent years, the tune has become increasingly popular and was even featured on the jumbotron screen in Times Square.

"When people hear my last name, a lot of times they'll just start singing the song," said Lee Schwebel, the company's vice president and great grandson of founder, Dora Schwebel. "Everybody seems to have good memories associated with that jingle, so we thought it would be a fun way connect our history with the present and give away some great prizes."

The videos will be judged on originality and creativity. Schwebel's is encouraging those who enter the contest to use their imaginations. "You can make it country, hip-hop, jazz, or whatever you like. It's your choice, " Lee Schwebel said. "You don't have to perform the song the way it was sung originally. Just make it your own and have fun with it."

Participants must be 18 years or older to submit an entry, but anyone can star in the video, such as friends and family of any age.
