Suarez Bakery Finds New Home In South Sioux City

For some baking is just a hobby, but for Javier Suarez it’s a way of life. Suarez’s family started Suarez Bakery 10 years ago with one storefront located on 14th and Jackson Street in Sioux City. His business has since grown and the family has opened an additional space in South Sioux City on West 21st Street.
“We needed the second location because we didn’t have enough space for the bread we were making at the other store,” said Suarez.
Each morning Suarez and his brother bake over 30 different types of breads and pastries ranging from the simplest of Mexican breads to fruit-filled pastries. The bakery in South Sioux City showcases the baked goods in cases along the back wall. Not only are the breads and pastries sold inside their storefronts, the bakery also ships their products to grocery stores in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota. According to Suarez both Mexican and American grocery stores sell his bread. He mentioned the reason he chose to sell to American grocery stores was because a lot of the time people go to those new stores but still want to be able to get the different varieties of Mexican bread they can find in traditional Mexican stores.
