Manhattan, KS – AIB International’s Thomas Auer has recently been awarded the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology’s (SOFHT) Trainer of the Year recognition.
SOFHT was set up in 1979 by a group of professionals to represent the interests and views of those involved in food hygiene across all disciplines.
The prestigious annual awards are judged by a panel of experienced food industry professionals from the Society’s membership, which includes food manufacturers, retailers, caterers, environmental health officers, industry, consultants, research organizations, training bodies, and students. Winners were recently announced at the industry’s 37th annual luncheon in Strand, London.
Auer, a food safety professional with AIB International since 2007, has more than 17 years of industry experience. A graduate of University of Munich as a Food Technologist, Auer is an experienced food safety auditor, a Certified IFS Auditor, Food Defense Coordinator, and FSPCA Lead Instructor, and conducts GFSI certification audits around the world.
Upon accepting the award, Auer said he felt honored by the achievement, and sees it as recognition for not only the work he is doing, but also the work of AIB International.
“My job is inspirational with some of the approaches I take with inspections. I approach GMP Inspection with the privledge of helping facilities improve their food safety system. The training aspect during an inspection is very interesting and helpful. It’s rewarding to return to plant’s after changes have been implemented to see achievements made by implementing my suggestions. That gives me energy and inspiration as a professional” said Auer.
This is the second year in a row that an AIB Food Safety Professional has received the award. In 2015, Kevin Shortland was named Trainer of the Year. Both Auer and Shortland work for AIB International’s EMEA office located in Leatherhead, UK.
AIB International has offices strategically located across the globe and serves more than 120 countries, all with the same central mission: to empower the global food industry to elevate their food safety and production process capabilities.
