MONTREAL – Vachon mini-cakes will soon be showing up on supermarket shelves in the eastern United States for the first time in several years, division owners Saputo Inc. announced Wednesday.
The Montreal-based cheese producer and baker will test the waters again for its cupcakes and other small packaged treats this summer in New York and New England. It could then be extended to Florida.
Saputo (TSX:SAP) will take a year to determine the success and may one day expand sales to California. It has no specific target for sales in the United States.
"If we have good profits even if the volume is very low, it is interesting for us," said president and CEO Lino Saputo Jr. said in an interview after the company reported strong financial results.
