MICHIGAN – A pair of Michigan Girl Scouts are campaigning to change the scouts' cookie recipe.
Tenth graders Rhiannon Tomtishen and Madison Vorva want palm oil removed from the popular cookies.
They say palm oil production is causing widespread destruction of orangutan habitats in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Currently all 16 varieties of Girl Scout cookies contain palm oil, but the oil was only added to the recipes five years ago.
On Tuesday, the Michigan scouts met with the Girl Scouts of USA in New York City. They also spoke to the Early Show about what they hope will come out of that meeting.
