Magnolia Bakery, the New York bakery credited with launching the nationwide cupcake craze, is finally ready to open in Chicago.
The chain made famous by the TV series “Sex in the City” plans to open Oct. 1 at 108 N. State St., in the Block 37 shopping center. The Loop shop will be the bakery's eighth location, following expansion to Los Angeles and Dubai. It first opened in Greenwich Village in 1996.
“As a native Chicagoan, I’m thrilled to bring the Magnolia experience to my hometown,” Bobbie Lloyd, president of Magnolia Bakery, said in a statement.
In addition to its signature $3.25 s’more cupcakes, the bakery will offer pies, cookies and cakes ranging from $24 to $55.
