IDDBA To Host Series Of Industry, Food Safety Workshops At Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo

Madison, WI — The International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association™ (IDDBA) announced the addition of the Show & Sell Workshops, an interactive and tactical series of seminars focusing on dairy, deli, bakery, and food safety topics, to its Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo, June 7-9, program lineup.

Held at the event’s Show and Sell Center—a 10,000-square-foot retail merchandising and idea center—presenters and sessions at the Workshops will include:

  • Basketball great Shaquille O’Neal will share with attendees his favorite sandwich concepts.
  • Phil Lempert, founder of SupermarketGuru, will present findings from original IDDBA food safety research, such as:

• Thorough cleanliness is a make-or-break issue for 83.3% of respondents.

• Clean floors are the biggest indication to respondents that a store is clean.

  • While 83.3% of respondents will shop a store only if it’s clean, even more (85.2%) will shop a service department only if they think the department takes food safety seriously.
  • Walter Robb, Co-CEO of Whole Foods, TBD
  • Sarah Schmansky, Nielsen Perishables Group, will share ideas on how to identify and leverage specialty cheese sales connectivity across the store.
  • Harold Lloyd, Harold Lloyd Presents, will discuss dairy-deli-bake merchandising ideas.
  • Attorney Shawn Stevens, a leading expert on legal food safety matters, will detail how retailers can better protect their customers and reduce risk by effectively controlling Listeria in the deli environment.
  • Kristina Barlow, USDA FSIS Safety and Inspection Services, will talk about the FSIS Best Practice Guidance for Controlling Listeria monocytogenes in Retail Delicatessens.
  • Jeffrey Mitchell, ChemStar’s VP of Food Safety, will discuss proper deli slicer cleaning and point out specific areas of concern to focus on when cleaning the slicer.
  • Mike Eardley, IDDBA President and CEO, will conduct meet-and-greets featuring cheese and wine pairings on the first two days of the Show.

The annual IDDBA Dairy-Deli-Bake Seminar & Expo is June 7-9 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
