JOLIET — One of Mario DeBenedetti III's earliest memories is sleeping on flour sacks during early morning bread delivery runs with his father.
Back at the bakery, Mario would pitch in by scrubbing pans and feeding the security dogs.
One of Darin DeBenedetti's earliest memories is the 60th anniversary celebration of Milano Bakery in 1975.
"I remember thinking to myself, 'I can't wait for the 100th. I want to take our trucks and run them through town and throw bread to people.'"
Darin will have to wait five more years to do that. In June, the business now run by the DeBenedetti brothers, will celebrate its 95th anniversary.
