Celebrity Chef Gabriele Corcos Brings Italian Flavor To Amy's Bread

New York, NY – Celebrity chef Gabriele Corcos is giving New Yorkers a taste of his native Tuscany with a new sandwich that debuts at Amy’s Bread in October to raise money for New Yorkers in need.

Corcos has created The Tuscan Farmer, the newest offering in the Amy’s Bread Chef “Sandwiches for Good” campaign, a program that allows chefs to create unique sandwiches featuring ingredients from Amy’s Bread to benefit various charities. Proceeds from the sale of The Tuscan Farmer will go to Food Bank For New York City, the city’s major hunger-relief organization working to end hunger citywide.

Corcos, along with his wife, actress Debi Mazar (Younger, Entourage), will join Amy Scherber for a free public tasting at Amy’s Bread in Chelsea Market on Thursday, October 6, from 12 – 2 p.m. The Tuscan Farmer will be sold at all Amy’s Bread locations as well as at Corcos’ Brooklyn restaurant, The Tuscan Gun, throughout October and November.

The Sandwich
The Tuscan Farmer features Principe di San Daniele 14 months aged prosciutto. Corcos layers fresh mozzarella, homemade pesto and other flavors between slices of Amy’s sourdough rustic bread. For Corcos, it’s a reminder of the tastes of the Italian countryside, where he honed his skills in a vineyard, an olive tree orchard, and his grandmother’s vegetable garden.

“In Italy, a sandwich is considered to be more of a snack than a meal,” says Corcos. “It’s something that a farmer might enjoy when taking a break from working the fields. So I wanted this new sandwich to be simple and humble, while using the highest quality ingredients."

“Food Bank For New York City is very pleased to partner with Amy’s Bread and one of Food Bank’s Culinary Ambassadors, Chef Gabriele Corcos,” said Francisco Tezen, Vice President, Fundraising for Food Bank For New York City. Each $1 raised will help Food Bank provide five meals. We are grateful to Amy’s Bread for supporting our efforts to deliver more nutritious meals to children and families in New York City.”

The Chef
Corcos’ passion for food and life has led to wide-ranging success, from the kitchen to TV screens to the bestseller list of The New York Times. At The Tuscan Gun, he serves traditional Tuscan farmers’ cuisine as well as his own take on beloved American staples.

Corcos and Mazar are co-producers and hosts of The Cooking Channel’s "Extra Virgin" and "Extra Virgin Americana." The couple won a James Beard Award in 2016 for the lively peek into their busy lives and kitchen. They are also authors of the book "Extra Virgin: Recipes and Love from our Tuscan Kitchen."
