Many Philadelphians know about Bassetts Ice Cream, the oldest ice cream company in the United States — but not everyone knows that it’s been running an artisan bread distribution business for the past 10 years.
Now the Philadelphia company will be deepening its imprint in the non-dessert category by rolling out its own artisan bread line.
“The more we can deliver to our customers beyond just Bassetts Ice Cream, the easier it is to support my distribution system,” said Michael Strange, president of Bassetts. “Running the warehouse is expensive and delivering the product is expensive.”
