Grocery delivery service Instacart said Wednesday it has added Mariano’s to its roster of stores from which Chicago customers can order items.

San Francisco-based Instacart arrived in Chicago in September and expanded its coverage area to 21 city neighborhoods last month. It dispatches "personal shoppers" to grocery stores to pick up items and deliver them to customers’ doorsteps in as little as an hour. The service now encompasses Whole Foods, Dominick's, Costco and Mariano's. Customers can combine items from multiple stores in a single order. Delivery in less than an hour costs $14.99, with the price dropping to $3.99 for orders of at least $35 delivered faster than two hours.

Instacart said that it added Mariano's at the request of local customers and that more stores are coming before the end of the year. Mariano's, owned by Milwaukee-based Roundy's Supermarkets, has 12 locations in Chicago and the suburbs. The upscale grocer was launched in 2010 by former Dominick's President Bob Mariano.
