LAUREL – Gov. Phil Bryant paid a visit to Jones County on Friday to help Wayne Farms officials announce a $3 million expansion to its Laurel operation.

The project — fueled in part by about $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding — will result in about 150 new jobs, Bryant said.

“Wayne Farms is the sixth-largest integrated poultry producer in the world,” he said. “ … It’s a great day for economic development.”

The governor praised Mississippi’s business environment.
