Freihofer's Donating 40,000 Loaves Of Bread

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Charles Freihofer Baking Company is celebrating 100 years of business by giving back to those most in need.

They're giving away 40,000 loaves of bread to people and charities this year.

Out in front of the Big E Friday morning, 50 loaves were donated to the Parish Cupboard. It will go toward providing emergency groceries to more than 200 families in West Springfield and Agawam, and also to the organization's lunch program.

Parish Cupboard Director Martha Tighe told 22News that the help is much appreciated.

“We try to give them a hearty lunch. It may be a tuna sandwich and salad and chips. It might be beef stew and bread and rolls. This is just what we need,” Tighe said.
