Frieda's Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month With Appearance On CBS Show

Los Alamitos, California – Jackie Caplan Wiggins, Vice President and COO of Frieda’s Specialty Produce, will be featured on the daytime CBS show, “The Doctors” on Monday, October 8th.
Wiggins recently celebrated her first anniversary as a breast cancer survivor and was filmed for the show while at the TeamSpirit Breast and Ovarian Cancer 10K walk held September 15th in collaboration with Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
“Team Jackie” has raised more than $50,000 since 2011 for the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center cancer programs with the support of many friends in the produce industry. Her dedication to the cause, as well as her compelling story, has made her a face for the TeamSpirit campaign and Long Beach Memorial Hospital. She and sister Karen Caplan, President and CEO of Frieda’s, were featured on several of the posters, fliers and advertising for the TeamSpirit campaign.
“When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I didn’t understand the importance of sharing one’s story,” Wiggins said. “But after I was diagnosed and sent out emails letting people know … it was a real epiphany for me. Sharing your story is healing and it helps.”
It has been a year since Wiggins was diagnosed with breast cancer and a year since she went through surgery for a double mastectomy. She is now cancer free and through her journey of recovery, she has found herself now a mentor to other women looking for a positive light.
