Lancaster Food Co. — a small, socially minded organic bread bakery that struggled for years to find capital and sustain its growth — has decided to go out of business.
The company sold the equipment in its 1879 Commerce Park East bakery on Friday.
Lancaster Food Co. had stopped producing its bread and cookies on July 3. The nine-employee firm said at the time the hiatus was temporary while it sought to find a new CEO, raise more money and rebuild its sales effort.
