BUFFALO — The 340 member-owners of Upstate Niagara Cooperative may have a hard time keeping the egos of their cows in check, based on all the awards the cooperative brought back to Western New York at two recent dairy product competitions.
In a surprise to absolutely no one here locally, Upstate Niagara was awarded first place in the Refrigerated Dip category at the 2018 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest, for their famous Bison® French Onion Dip, a Western New York favorite for generations. The farmer-owned cooperative also won first place for their Light Sour Cream and both Strawberry & Blueberry Lowfat Yogurts. This competition was held on August 21-22 in Wisconsin and sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association.
Upstate Niagara also brought home second place awards for Bison® Sour Cream and Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese, with third place awards for both their Upstate Farms® brand Plain Greek Nonfat Yogurt and String Cheese, Part Skim Ricotta Cheese, and Ricottone Cheese.
