Guayaquil, Ecuador – Visitors to the Boston Seafood Show will be able to see and taste OMARSA’S Organic Farmed Shrimp, with European Union (EU) Organic Certification from March 11th-13th at booth 633.
On November, 2011 OMARSA sent the first shipment of EZ peel 'organic' shrimp, certified under EU standards to be sold at supermarkets in the United States.
Although the USDA has not yet established organic standards for seafood, the four organic certifications that OMARSA has obtained guarantee the quality standards of the Ecuadorian shrimp supplier.
Two of the three shrimp farms that Omarsa has are organic totaling 1,600 hectares with production systems carefully selected to reduce the impact on the environment with a density of 5-10 animals per square meter.
"We understand growing shrimp this way costs more, but we are seeing a growing list of customers for our organic shrimp, and it is worth it” said Sandro Coglitore, General Manager of OMARSA.
