Farmland Fights Hunger With Former Royals Legend Mike Sweeney

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Farmland is partnering with Royals Hall of Famer Mike Sweeney and No Kid Hungry to fight childhood hunger this holiday season. For every Farmland product sold now through Dec. 31, Farmland will make a $0.25 donation to No Kid Hungry, up to $100,000. Every $1 donated to No Kid Hungry can provide a child 10 healthy meals through on-the-ground programs and partnerships. With the help of Farmland and its customers, No Kid Hungry can connect 1 million meals to children facing hunger in America.

On Nov. 30 at 12:30 p.m., Sweeney will join Farmland and No Kid Hungry at the Price Chopper located at 1030 W. 103rd St. to drive awareness of the Farmland Fights Hunger campaign and encourage locals to support the cause. In addition to giving back, all guests attending can enjoy free, delicious Farmland bacon samples. Plus, for those purchasing Farmland products, Sweeney will be at the register to ring up a few lucky customers and personally thank them for their contribution.

“Giving back during the holidays is the reason for the season,” said Mike Sweeney. “I’m thankful and blessed to partner with Farmland once again to help fight hunger and have the opportunity to get involved in such a great cause.”

“Nearly one in five children in America lives in households that struggle to put food on the table,” said Jill Davis, senior director of corporate partnerships at No Kid Hungry. “With the support of companies like Farmland, we can ensure that all children not only have bright holidays, but bright futures.”

“Price Chopper is excited to join Farmland and Mike Sweeney to give back to No Kid Hungry,” said Casie Broker, Director of Marketing, Price Chopper. “We know how important healthy meals are—not only during the holidays, but all year long—and we’re dedicated to supporting the cause and making sure that no child goes hungry, whether they live right here in Kansas City, or the rest of our country.”

“We’re honored to give back to No Kid Hungry and to have partners like Mike Sweeney and Price Chopper join us in the fight against hunger,” said Megan Thomas, senior brand manager, Smithfield Foods. “Childhood hunger affects all communities, including Kansas City, but together, we can see to it that all children get the healthy food they need.”

Participating Farmland products include everything from Farmland bacon and breakfast sausage to boneless ham and lunch meats. For more information on the Farmland Fights Hunger campaign and how to donate, please visit FarmlandFoods.com, @FarmlandFoods or Facebook.com/FarmlandFoods
