Horsham, Pennsylvania – Bimbo Bakeries USA announced that it will cease production at its bakery located at 1950 Texas Avenue, Lubbock, TX in early January 2017. The company will shift production to its Rockwall, TX bakery.
The Lubbock Bakery produces bread and buns and employs 75 associates. Consumers and customers will not be impacted as this change will not affect the availability of products.
“Making the decision to close a facility is never an easy one,” said Wayne Sager, Vice President, Region Operations for Bimbo Bakeries USA. “After careful analysis and consideration, we determined it is most efficient to redistribute production to other bakeries in our system to better meet market demand.”
Human resources representatives will meet with impacted associates and union representatives to discuss severance and other benefits, as well as resources available to assist associates.
“We truly value and respect our dedicated associates at the Lubbock Bakery and will assist them throughout the transition,” said Sager.
