The Duckwall Fruit Company of Hood River, Oregon has introduced their 2 lb. pear pouch bag in time to be shown to retailers at PMA’s Fresh Summit in Orlando, FL.
The bag was designed to meet growing demand by retailers to have a bag with a handle, which have proved popular with many different product lines.
The bag can be used to feature any of the pear varieties that are packed by Duckwall Fruit Company, but will be focused on their Anjou, Bosc and red Anjou varieties. The pouch bag is designed to hold 2 lbs. of pears and will be shipped primarily as a 12/2 lb. case. The design features a view of Oregon’s Hood River Valley with Mt. Hood in the background, which is one of the largest pear growing regions in the United States.
According to Duckwall’s sales manager, Ed Weathers, “I love the look of our pears in the pouch bag and it’s easy to see why this type of packaging is currently so popular. The bag provides great visual appeal to the consumer, and we have a large, clear window which allows consumers to really see the fruit. I also thought it was important that we included the ‘Check the Neck for Ripeness’ logo, the USA Pear program which helps consumers identify the best time to eat their pears.”
During the holiday season, the pouch bag can be used as a medley bag, and Duckwall will pack a green Anjou, red Anjou and golden Bosc into the bag for a festive color and flavor mix.
Duckwall is also able to ship preconditioned pears in this package for customers on this program.
Duckwall Fruit Company is one of the largest pear packers in the United States and they exclusively pack pears. They finished their 2016 pear harvest on Friday, September 30th, two weeks earlier than usual. For more information you can visit them at www.duckwallfruit.com or call 541-354-1694.
