While the new Giant Eagle Market District Express is its own store, in other ways it is just another Giant Eagle shop.
“We don’t think in terms of brick-and-mortar,” Giant Eagle Inc. CEO Laura Karet told me Thursday. “That’s only one piece. We’re establishing a network.”
In Central Ohio, that network means 22 grocery stores, another three super-sized Market District shops, 21 GetGo gas stations and convenience stores and, as of Thursday, the area’s first Market District Express in Bexley, a scaled-down grocery aiming to appeal to both everyday shoppers and foodies alike. Oh, add e-commerce to that as well with the grocer’s Curbside Express program now available in 12 stores including the new Bexley shop.
